MATTESON SUMMER CAMP JUNE 2020 UPDATE
For the safety and care of our campers, the Village of Matteson has sadly decided to cancel our 2020 Matteson Summer Camp program. We will be providing full refunds for all campers who have registered for Summer 2020.
This has not been an easy process for us, as we have spent much of our time over the past couple months trying to adapt to the COVID-19 situation and imagine ways to run our program in a way that respects the rules and recommendations of the government and allows us to maintain a safe environment for both campers and staff. We have been closely following the announcement made regarding the plan to "reopen", and after much consideration, it has become clear that even if we are able to shape our programming to adhere to the proper guidelines, we would still not be able to guarantee the level of safety that we believe is essential if we are to invite young people into our care this summer.
While the weeks of camp will not happen at Matteson this summer, our staff are working on some alternate ideas for entertaining and caring for our campers. We want to ensure that these new activities and programming follow the legal guidelines and safety requirements as the situation develops.
Thank you for being part of our camp community! This decision will no doubt create a deep sense of loss for you, as it has for us. We care about everyone that partners with and chooses to spend time at the Matteson Summer Camp. We appreciate your patience and support, and we hope you are staying safe and healthy during this time.
