The Community Development Department of the Village of Matteson has divisions consisting of Building Services, Planning and Engineering.

The Community Development Department is primarily responsible for Building Permits, Construction Inspections, Property Maintenance Enforcement, Structural Plan Review, Zoning Administration and Enforcement, Current and Long-Range Planning, Engineering Construction Plan Review and Inspection, and Engineer-related Permits.

The Community Development Department strives to carry out its responsibilities based on the health, welfare and safety of those who live, work and visit Matteson. The Department is dedicated to providing the best possible public service with integrity, fairness and compassion. In order to comply with the Foreclosure, Vacant, and Rental Property Registration Ordinance(s), all Owners/Mortgages/Trustees must register online via and pay a registration fee.
