State-of-the-Art Amazon Fulfillment Center Coming to Matteson
Village President Sheila Chalmers-Currin and the Board of Trustees are pleased to announce the launch of a state-of-the-art Amazon Fulfillment Center in Matteson, creating more than 1,000 new, full-time jobs in the Village, with industry leading pay and comprehensive benefits starting on day one. Two new facilities are planned for construction in Matteson and Markham at more than 855,000 square feet each. These two sites will be Amazon’s first operations facilities in Cook County to utilize innovative Amazon Robotics technology.
Amazon also plans to invest over $700 million to provide upskilling training for 100,000 U.S. employees for in demand jobs. Programs will help Amazonians from all backgrounds access training to move into highly skilled roles across the company’s corporate offices, tech hubs, fulfillment centers, retail stores, and transportation network, or pursue career paths outside of Amazon. Additionally, these facilities will add to the thousands of jobs in construction and services the company has brought to Illinois.
“The Village of Matteson is thrilled to welcome Amazon to our town,” said President Chalmers-Currin. “As a global leader of the rapidly growing distribution industry, Amazon will now have access to our exceptional regional workforce, a very vibrant business climate and our continuing commitment to attract diverse forms of economic development. This particular project is clearly an economic engine that will attract hundreds of jobs to our town.”
