The Village of Matteson is a Home Rule municipality governed by a Village President and Board of Trustees. The Village serves a population of 19,009 residents in the southwest suburbs of Illinois in the county of Cook.

The Village President appoints all members of the existing three commissions; Plan Commission, Parks & Recreation Commission, and Fire & Police Commission, which are advisory in nature only, and no official action is taken by members of these commissions.

As well, there are six Trustee Standing Committees; Administration & Finance, Community Affairs, Community Development/Economic Development, Recreational Services, Public Safety and Public Works. These Committees are comprised of three elected officials appointed by the Village President and a Department Head liaison that coordinates with each committee.

Scheduled meetings for the Village Board, Commission and Committees who meet on a regular basis have their dates and times posted on the Village website and at its central office of 4900 Village Commons, Matteson, Illinois.

The Village of Matteson has 7 offices:

Village Hall located at 4900 Village Commons
Police Department located at 20500 South Cicero Avenue
Recreational Services Department located at 20642 Matteson Ave. & 4450 Oakwood Ave.
Fire Department Station 1 located at 3445 West 211th Street & Station 2 at 1015 Central Avenue
Public Works Department located at 21146 Tower Avenue.

FOIA Fees:

There is no charge for the first 50 pages of black and white letter or legal size copies. Each additional page of black and white letter or legal size copies is 25 cent per page. DVD recording of Village Board Meeting is $1.25. Color copies (including the first 50 pages) will be charged the cost of copying.
