Police Department Organization
The Matteson Police Department has 40 sworn officers, approximately 15 civilian employees, and one K9. The department operates with several divisions, including Patrol, Criminal Investigations, Tactical, Community Policing and School Resource, Records, and Administration. The department also employs many different specialized positions such as a K9 officer, Bicycle Officer, Traffic Officer, Range Training Officer, Juvenile Officer, Evidence Technician, Tactical (Undercover) Officer, Detective, Field Training Officer (FTO), and School Resource Officer (SRO). The Matteson Police Department also designates numerous officers to several multi-jurisdictional units such as the South Suburban Major Crimes Task Force (SSMCTF), the South Suburban Emergency Response Team (SSERT), and the Suburban Major Accident Response Team (SMART).
