The Matteson Police Department is committed to providing direct personalized police service and enforcement. The Community Policing Bureau was created to assist the patrol division in providing this type of service. We have several different programs designed to get the community involved in assisting the police in keeping Matteson a safe place to work and live.
The core programs of the Community Policing Bureau are:
Neighborhood Watch is a program to promote crime prevention and enhance communication between the police and the community. The bureau is actively seeking Block Captains for the watch program.
The Citizens Police Academy is designed to help residents gain a working knowledge of the police department and various area of law enforcement.
The TRIAD or Seniors and Law Enforcement Together Council assists the police department with programs and services for area seniors.
The Police Explorer Post is a youth program for ages 14-20 interested in Law enforcement and learning leadership skills.
These are just some of the programs we offer. Others include neighbor mediation, assistance for families with troubled teens, Peer Jury-first time offender program and School Resource Officer program. We are available to discuss with you personally any concerns you may have regarding programs or police service in your area.
Together we can help organize resources to reduce and prevent crime, improve quality of life for residents and provide a model of success for a community where police, residents, businesses, churches and agencies work together to solve problems. For questions or additional information contact;
