Finance Department


The Finance Department serves as the main billing and collection agent of the Village. Items such as vehicle sticker applications and collections are conducted in the Department. Additional revenue collection areas the Departments performs, in part or whole, are water bills, and other miscellaneous billings.

Its Budget Office prepares the Annual Village Budget. Responsibilities include balancing revenues and expenditures and developing program objectives and producing the proposed and approved budgets.

Internally, the Finance Department provides services to other departments such as payroll, accounting, accounts payable, and purchasing.

Customer Service is the cashiering hub for the Village centralizing cashiering stations that are set up in other departments. The customer service officers manages, vehicle licensing, pet licensing, the water billing and shut-off program.

Guidelines for Payment:

The Village of Matteson accepts the following forms of payment: Business or personal check (from USA bank accounts only), money order, and credit/debit card (Visa/MC/AmEx/DIS). The Village of Matteson accepts money orders denominated only in United States Dollars. Any other form of payment will be denied. The Village of Matteson does not accept temporary checks, nor starter checks. Personal checks must have imprinted name of checking account holder and possess a check number greater than 300.

Returned checks will be subject to a $35.00 returned check processing fee.
