Village President André B. Ashmore and the Board of Trustees entered into contract with Robert E. Hamilton Consulting Engineers, PC (REHCE) to assist the Village of Matteson with the federal processes required to create a “Quiet Zone”, also known as a no-whistle zone where train horns are not sounded. The evaluation of the crossings has begun. A public open house is scheduled to gather input from the public on options for improvements to the Main Street crossing to achieve quiet zone status. This open house is specific to achieving a “Quiet Zone” at the Main Street crossing and will take place at the date and time below. A previous open house was completed for the crossings located at Ridgeland Avenue, Central Avenue and Cicero Avenue which are shared with Richton Park. The Main Street crossing is fully within the boundary of Matteson.
